LiveReload App Reviews

Great Application!

Love that this app works with Firefox. Lacks animation for CSS live updates like its competition has, but other than that it is supperior in my opinion. If you dont have this app or one like it, you need one now.

Null suport

The Jade compiles is not working. The program includes a very old version and there is no way to udate it. The wost part is that I sent two mails and after almost two weeks, I havent receive any answer. Well, only the automated response.

Well worth the money.

Like others have stated, its great in that you dont need to install plugins for every editor, and it works with multiple browsers. Havent found a single bug yet.

OK when it works. Support is MIA.

It seems like the development is slow (if in progress at all) and the support is NON EXISTANT. Ive been having an issue ever since I purchased the app. Contacted support and that was 2 weeks ago. NO RESPONSE. Ive since emailed them to check on the status of my support ticket. No response. This app is such a great concept and is helpful when it works. Unforunatly this development team has gone MIA and isnt answering support or releasing fixes/updates.

Amazing tool

A really great way to work. It fits perfectly into my workflow. A few minor things to get 5 perfect stars - Need to keep folder structure on output to a new path - The popup error window is too thin and hard to clearly see the error line. Would rather use Growl and notification center.

Nice when it works, not nice when it doesnt

Its not completely straightforward to set up; the icons representing connected/disconnected arent very self-explanatory, and theres a few bits and pieces to get in place (the app, browser extension…). Then its great until it stops working for no apparent reason. I found it was not worth my trouble to try to keep this working. I thought it was just me, but other reviewers seem to be having problems as well. Im hoping for an update — this could potentially be very useful.

Great app, little worried about support

This app is great and works better than I could have imagined. Im using emacs with MAMP, and previewing works like a charm. The compiler stuff is cool but feels bolted on, and is becoming out of date. Id much rather it just require that I have the right command line stuff installed. Its been a while since an update and that has me a little concerned, Id hope an app with this popularity would be more up-to-date.

Needs sourcemap support.

This apps getting a little long in the tooth. CoffeeScript already released sourcemap support, and final support in Sass is on its way. Also, the Sass and CoffeeScript libs that come with this get outdated fast and need to be manually updated. Not cool, especially for something thats paid.

One of my favorite tools

I use this app for simple websites and applications and have never had a problem with it. It works well along with MAMP. Compiling features work well for SASS (havent had the chance to test others extensibly)

Great to see this updated!

As one of the more recent converts to the LiveReload fold, Im glad to see it continue to evolve. LiveReload is a "one-trick" app that does its one trick incredibly well, and saves an ever-accumulating amount of time during the Web development process. The developer has made its source available, but its well worth the low cost to support its ongoing development here, too. Thanks, Andrey!

Cant live without this anymore

I hardly ever write reviews, but this app is great! I love that I can set up per-directory watch rules, such as compiling SASS and CoffeeScript, or running my own custom compile scripts.

Great app, but still missing proper RVM and Gemsets support

The app usually does the job, but for those of us developing on the bleeding edge of compass/sass/susy and wants to make use of different toolsets and different versions on different projects, you have to jump through hoops to get everything working. Im giving it 4 stars, only because of this missing feature that I consider key to a multi-project development enviromnent. Really looking forward to better RVM and .ruby-gemset detection and support in version 3.0, and probably wouldnt have bought this if I had realized it wasnt already included.

A Must-have for Web Designers

As a front-end designer, Id be lost without LiveReload. The application is straightforward, simple to use, and extremely valuable in speeding up any web design workflow. SASS compiles into CSS and instantly loads in the browser without even refreshing the page—all without manually watching files via the Terminal. For a mere $10, I cant recommend this application enough.

THIS IS WONDERFUL, but ...

I love this app. The amount of time it could save is crazy wonderful. It’s still a little beta, though. I’m crashing Chrome almost so often (almost every time I update) that it’s not saving any time at all when I have inspect element & live reload going at the same time.

I simply love it.

It’s just awesome.

Very Slow on Mavericks

A simple color setting change in CSS takes more than 15 seconds to refresh…that isn’t very LIVE. Awesome functionality that hasn’t yet lived up to the $9.99 pricetag. I could refresh the page myself 10 times in the time it takes Live Reload to reload the page itself.

Great app, but not without some issues

First off… I have used this app from almost the time where it was first made avaialable. That being said its a great app… when it isnt causing your fan to go a million miles per hour. When left on for a long time (im talking about days), the LiveReloadHelper process crashes without warning or notice and sends your fan going as fast as it can until you restart the computer. Very annoying and makes me worry about the health of my computer. When it works… it works. When it doesnt im afraid my computer is going to blow up. Would be nice if the developer made some updates. Its been a year.

don’t buy. it doesn’t work with maverick

it used to work. liked it then. it doesn’t work anymore. so don’t buy it

Saves me so much heartache!

LiveReload along with the extension for GoogleChrome has made development so painless for me. I use Sublime Text and have it set to save if I change focus from the window I’m on (even switching back & forth between HTML & CSS files), or I compulsively hit CMD+S anyway out of habit. With every save, regardless of how it happens, the changes are reflected in Chrome (linked to the local file) within a second or so. I used to have to switch to Chrome & reload the page, and just saving that step increases my productivity way more than I would have guessed.

Love it

If you do front end development this is a must have tool.
